Bear’s Guide to Earning Degrees By Distance Learning Dr. John Bear
25 years and still going strong, Dr. Bear’s book is the classic guide to distance learning programs. For all intents and purposes, Dr. Bear invented the distance learning guide. His breezily irreverent style puts the stuffy academics in their place, while he maintains integrity about issues like diploma mills. His view of accreditation is the most realistic among the self-styled experts. It probably helps that it matches our own.

How To Earn A College Degree Without Going to College James P. Duffy
If you like a more serious tone, Duffy provides it. He deals in only accredited and allegedly reputable schools. He includes information on corresondence options and nontraditional approaches to finishing a degree. A nice, well-written book with some rich resources.

College Degrees By Mail and Internet Degree.net and Dr. John Bear
Dr. Bear has a very nice little mini-franchise going and, as you can probably tell, we’re huge fans. This book is a lighter, tighter version of the full-blown Bear’s Guide. It’s designed for students who need less guidance and are willing to do a lot of the work themselves to save some money. That is a very nice student profile that fits a lot of Virtual Students.

Bear’s Guide to the Best MBAs by Distance Learning Dr. John Bear
For the MBA bound, consider the Bear approach. Yes, we could have called this the Bear’s Guide bookstore. Dr. Bear’s style and cadence match ours, we like to think, so we are proud to recommend his books. This one, typically, is a complete guide to earning the elusive MBA via distance learning, with profiles and pithy wisdom all the way through.
